Planet of the Future is a diptych that forms a fragmented map of the world, created using an organic material — pigeon droppings.

At first glance, the composition reproduces a familiar geography; however, upon closer inspection, the map appears incomplete: certain countries and territories are missing or dissolved into the dark background. Island and coastal regions, in particular, seem to disappear — areas that are most vulnerable to climate change and rising sea levels.

This visual “loss” is not accidental. It refers to real processes of disappearance — coastal erosion, flooding, and environmental disasters that gradually erase parts of the world both physically and from the informational field.

The material of the work reinforces this gesture. Pigeon droppings —a natural product of the bird’s metabolism once domesticated by humans and later displaced into urban environments — become a metaphor for the unwanted, the marginalized, yet simultaneously inseparable. Through this material, a global image is constructed of a planet that itself becomes the “waste” of its own civilization.

The work contrasts the visible “dirtiness” of the material with the far greater, less perceptible pollution caused by humans. In this context, the missing countries are not an error in the map, but a consequence of processes already underway: the world is becoming unevenly visible, unevenly habitable, and ultimately incomplete.

The diptych emphasizes this rupture — not only physical, but also symbolic: between parts of the world, between species, and between responsibility and its denial.
